Sounds like there’s another great rebate opportunity out there on the horizon and it’s Energy Star related. But there are whirlwinds of white papers and documents to search through to see what you need for it to be applicable, so why don’t we dissect this monster and see what exactly you can get out of it. Let’s start with what you need to be eligible.
- Are you 18 or older?
- Do you have a valid mailing address in Missouri?
- Do you like money?
Answer yes to all of these, and you’re ready for up to $575 in savings. Remember: you can only get a rebate on an Energy Star-rated appliance. Honestly though, if you get a product that doesn’t feature the logo, you’ll be losing out on long-term savings.
The program is split into five categories, but only one rebate is available for each category per household.
- Space Heating
- Space Cooling
- Water Heating
- Clothes Washers
- Dishwashers
* Gas Furnaces – $125
* Central Air Conditioning – $100
* Air Source Heat Pumps – $250
* Water Heaters: Electric Heat Pumps – $150
* Water Heaters: High-Efficiency Gas Storage – $100
* Water Heaters: Gas Tankless – $100
* Water Heaters: Solar (Electric or Gas Back-up) – $500
* Clothes Washers – $75
* Dishwashers (excluding tabletops) – $75
So you can’t get rebates on a new central air unit and a heat pump, but you can get a central air unit and a gas furnace and still have both rebates applied.
Another thing to be noted is the ending date: there is none, BUT, there is a limit on the number of rebates available. Essentially 9,600 rebates are available for each category, but that is spread across the entire state of Missouri.
Now that you have the nitty-gritty on the rebate program, it would probably be wise to look at the products available. Since there are so many to choose from, it’s recommended to call for an item list and ask about pricing for them.
